OUSD K-12 Science Fair

The 2012 OUSD K-12 Science Fair will take place on May 23 at the Chabot Space & Science Center. All K-12 Oakland schools are invited to participate. For registration information, dates, and participation details, please download the Science Fair Participation Guidelines.

If your school plans on participating, please submit the Science Fair Registration Form by March 30, 2012.

This year's poster is now available at the SMART Center, all our PD events, and for download here in three versions: in color (black background, white background) or black and white.

Need to fund display boards or suppllies for your school's science fair? Apply for a science grants from Bechtel and DonorsChoose. Additional resources are listed below along with details of past events to help plan your participation.

This year's evening celebration will take place from 5-8 pm on May 23rd. In addition to the 250 science fair projects on display, the drop in event will feature special activities from a number of partner organizations. Chabot exhibits and the planetarium will also be open. Food and drinks will be served. Students, families, staff, and the community are all invited to attend this public event. Admission is free. Please note that the District Science Fair features top projects from school site fairs. The District event is not judged. All participating projects will receive a custom certificate, medal, and ribbon.

Students and teachers who are interested in entering higher level regional competition can sign up for the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair in March. Please note that this event is independent of participation in the OUSD Science Fair.

2009 Science Fair2011 OUSD K-12 Science Fair

The 2011 OUSD K-12 Science Fair took place on May 23-25 at the Chabot Space & Science Center. Forty-three schools participated with 220 project. The theme was Energy and Our Environment. Students were encouraged to develop projects that address the theme.

2009 Science Fair2010 OUSD K-12 Science Fair

The 2010 Science Fair celebration took place from 5-8 pm on May 26th at the Chabot Space & Science Center. In addition to the 240 science fair projects on display, the drop in event featured special activities from eight partner organizations. Chabot exhibits and the planetarium were also open. 830 students, families, staff, and the community attend this public event!

2009 OUSD K-12 Science Fair

Congratulations to all 29 schools who participated in the 2009 OUSD Science Fair! 170 projects were submitted and on display at the Chabot Space & Science Center. On May 19th, over 1100 students and teachers visited the Center and viewed the projects on field trips. On May 20, 450 students, families, and community members attended the evening reception.

Science Fair Poster2008 OUSD K-12 Science Fair

The 2008 OUSD K-12 Science Fair took place on May 21st, 5-7 pm at the Chabot Space & Science Center. Over 560 students, families, staff, and community members attended the event that featured 180 projects from 34 schools. The evening also included guest presenters from the East Bay Regional Park District, Oakland Museum, and Oakland Zoo.
