Every six weeks, TeamScience will host a workshop that represents the best practices in urban science instruction. These two hour workshops will take place at various school sites. The first hour will feature topics that apply to all science courses and include pedagogical strategies or guest speakers. The second hour will be spent in teams focused on specific courses. Led by experienced teachers, these sessions include the sharing of curriculum, content specific strategies, and peer support. Click here for a list of upcoming workshops. Current teams include Middle School grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, and High School Biology, Chemistry, Physics. Teachers who teach other science subjects, ELD, or Special Education are also welcome to attend. These meetings can satisfy a part of the Intern and BTSA credentialing requirements (see below) and stipends will be provided.
To help each team connect and share resources, Google Groups have been created for each course. Please click on the links below to sign up and access the groups resources. 6th Grade Earth Science
Intern and BTSA Support Teachers who currently have a first year Intern or Preliminary Credential are required to have a District Intern or BTSA Coach. By participating in TeamScience, you will receive a coach through the project. Please contact Anthony Cody for more information if you are in need of a science coach.
Every six weeks, two meetings take place for the teacher leaders in TeamScience. The first is a Mentor Forum that provides training and support for TeamScience Mentors. The second is a PD Planning Team Meeting for planning the TeamScience Professional Development Workshops. Science Department Chairs and other experienced teachers are invited to attend and help support our work. Below are the dates and location of the meetings.
