LogoOakland TeamScience is a project focused on creating a collaborative community of experienced and novice secondary science teachers to improve science instruction and teacher support. Previously separate programs such as new teacher support (intern and BTSA coaching), professional development, and curriculum/assessment development will be folded into this program for all 6-12th grade science teachers.

TeamScience Team BuildingProfessional Development

Every six weeks, TeamScience will host a workshop that represents the best practices in urban science instruction. These two hour workshops will take place at various school sites. The first hour will feature topics that apply to all science courses and include pedagogical strategies or guest speakers. The second hour will be spent in teams focused on specific courses. Led by experienced teachers, these sessions include the sharing of curriculum, content specific strategies, and peer support. Click here for a list of upcoming workshops.

Current teams include Middle School grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, and High School Biology, Chemistry, Physics. Teachers who teach other science subjects, ELD, or Special Education are also welcome to attend.

These meetings can satisfy a part of the Intern and BTSA credentialing requirements (see below) and stipends will be provided.
